Fun Fact: I have driven across the country 3 times.
Why did you want to be on HSSA?
I wanted to put my time and energy into bettering the student experience in this faculty, and to help make everyone’s four (or more) years here more enjoyable. I also wanted to get more involved in the HS community
What did you do this summer?
I worked in Vancouver for a company called Saputo, making cheese. The rest of my time I spent with my family and friends. Then I drove across the country at the end of August to return to school. Nothing terribly exciting. Oh and I got to see U2 kick off their world tour with their opening show in Vancouver, which was an unforgettable experience.
What kinds of extracurricular activities are you involved with?
I work for the hockey team as their statistician; I travel around the province with the team. And since I am not actually playing, I don’t run the risk of getting any more concussions. I have already had a few too many of those…
What or whom inspires you?
That is a good question. There is a lot that I find inspirational, but it is hard to put my finger on one (or even just a few) thing(s) that inspire me.
What is your fav HS course or prof and why? Students?
I think my favourite course would have to be anatomy. I find it incredibly fascinating, and my goal is to be a surgeon so it aligns nicely with my interests
What are your future career plans? Where do you see yourself in five/ten/twenty years?
Like I said above, I want to be working in the O.R. as a surgeon. That is where is see myself in 40+ years
How do you define health? What do you do in your everyday life to stay healthy?
I like WHO’s definition of health, partly because of how whole and complete it is, partly because I have heard it in every single one of my HS classes so far, and I am not about to forget it. “Health a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Do you have any advice for other Health Studies Students?
Don’t ever give up, and don’t ever let anyone stand in the way of your dreams. If you want something bad enough, there is nothing you shouldn’t do to achieve your goals
Anything else you want to end with?
I’d just like to say thank you to everyone for my first two years here, it has been an awesome experience and I cannot wait to see what the next two years bring.
