During the weekend of March 27th to March 30th I had the privilege to attend the Unite for Sight Global Health and Innovation Conference at Yale University. I was lucky enough to have been chosen to take part in this amazing experience and have memories that will last a lifetime.
Being near the end of my undergraduate degree program I am about to embark on a new journey and I found this experience to be enlightening and thought provoking.
Throughout this weekend we were able to talk, discuss and listen to various members within the health care community. These individuals ranged from Medical Doctors to leaders in developing nations pushing to make valuable health differences. Each session was an opportunity to learn and grow as a health care provider. Although I may just be a student, with no distinct path, I thought this experience changed my view on the health care world. This conference gave me and the other students an invaluable opportunity to explore global health care innovations and strive to reach similar goals. It was important to me to attend sessions and workshops during the conference that I was less informed about. I attended a workshop that inspired leadership within each person. It showed me that no matter what, I can use my skills to improve and lead others towards a path of that includes better health outcomes, whether it be domestically or on a global scale, I can make a difference. That, I think was the most important thing learned that weekend, believe in myself and know that I can make a difference for the better. I have tried to do things that challenged me to expand myself, and this conference was a great opportunity to do that, I met new friends, discussed important health topics, and learned about myself, all of which I am very grateful for.
