Attending the Global Health and Innovation conference was an inspiring and motivating opportunity for me. It was amazing to listen to world leaders speak about their many contributions to the improvement of health. I learned so much about global health issues and the efforts to improve these problems and also about myself and what I want to do with my life to improve health. It was quite the experience to be surrounded by professionals who have devoted their entire lives to their passion to help people. The topics that were discussed and presented truly motivated me to do something, whether that is with my career or through volunteering efforts. I was able to experience firsthand the issues and initiatives I have been learning about in lecture. Not many students are able to have an out of class experience like this so I am very grateful I was able to attend. It truly broadened my perspective on the careers in the health field. In my opinion, one of the highlights was listening to the Rwandan Minister of Health. I was able to speak with her after she gave her speech. She was so inspirational in everything that she has done for her country and she is truly an amazing role model. One of the interesting things about this trip was that not only was I able to learn and be influenced by fellow Western students but also by many visiting students from around the world. It was amazing to have so many like-minded individuals with the same hopes and dreams for better global health gather in the same place. There is not much that I would change about this trip. The only recommendation I would give is maybe having a few more meetings prior to the conference to prepare us a little better. It would have been beneficial to discus some of the speakers or topics to better choose which session to attend. Overall it was an amazing trip and I hope to attend again someday!
